FRET BOARD TAPPING 11.) fretboard_tapping.wmv |
This is the end of a little improv I did a few days ago. Sound and video quality are nil (blame webcam and mic). I hate my first upload here to be nothing more than a glorified technical exercise, but I'll put up some slower stuff later. For de record, slower emotive playing is ALWAYS more important to me personally - but fast is just plain fun. Also, I know this is out of time. That's just how this technique evolved into my playing, makes it quite loose. So be kind, all your buckethead and lane fans. I'm sure you all kick my ass, but be gentle with me. E, F and G, etc.) Exercise #4) Play through the scale, ascending and descending, in runs of four notes at a time. (ie: play C, D, E and F, then D, E, F and G, then E, F, G and A, etc.) If you play each of these exercises slowly and repeatedly, your right hand tapping will become strong and agile. In future tapping exercises I will give you some independence exercises and 13.) tapping1.mpg |

I don't know why it's called 7. In one of his lessons in GuitarTechniques magazine, it's called 8-finger tapping. However, it still rocks! He used a string dampener. A guitar is a musical instrument characterized by its visually dominant body and neck. Guitar strings are strung parallel to the neck, whose surface is covered by the fingerboard (fretboard). By depressing a string against the fingerboard, the effective length of a string can be altered, which in turn changes the frequency at which the string will vibrate when plucked. Guitarists typically use one hand to pluck the strings and the other to depress the strings against the fingerboard. The strings may be plucked using either fingers or a plectrum (guitar pick), thus creating the sound of notes or chords. The strings of a guitar produce little sound by themselves. Instead, their vibration must be amplified to audibly useful levels. In general, this amplication is achieved either mechanically or electronically, with the result being that there are two main categories of guitar: acoustic (mechanical amplification) and electric (electronic amplification).
